DEFENSE VERDICT EXTINGUISHES $250,000 CLAIM

Firm Senior Counsel and member of the Hospitality Law Practice Group John Harris in our Phoenix, Arizona office recently received a defense verdict in a trip and fall lawsuit for one of the Firm's hotel clients. The plaintiff alleged that she tripped and fell over a negligently placed and maintained floor door lock and as a result suffered back and neck injuries requiring surgery. Plaintiff also claimed a loss of earnings. Plaintiff's demand was over $200,000.00. While "causation" was the focus of the defense in this case, it was critical to evaluate the medical injuries identified and the medical expenses claimed, too, and defend against unnecessary medical expenses incurred as appropriate. Woods v. Sunstone Hotel Properties, Maricopa County Superior Court, Phoenix, Arizona; CV2003-017448.
